Re: Admins New Code in mind

(agentx@nrunner.cjb.net, dethtoll@nrunner.cjb.net, reens@nrunner.cjb.net, jfly@nrunner.cjb.net, kitty_kat@nrunner.cjb.net)

Looks like we got a new test code to work on for tonight.. for now i’m working on the ranks, quite possibly change some of the ranks, & rename some.. also working on the datafiles.. trying to move all the rooms into the new code is work..and lots of work.. so my work list looks somehing like this:

* Read on the ‘README’ files first, layout a task for editing the code slowly

* work on the ranks, add all 19 ranks

* add the rooms and edit the config file

* move the commands by ranks, and designated commands for Wiz & Admins

* edit the command.h file

* add the userfiles to the ‘userfiles’ folder

* edit old userfiles

* edit history folder

* add previous user’s history to the ‘history’ folder

* edit the motds, update all information written on the motds

* edit the newsfile

* add and edit the general map

* create more rooms and hopefully get dynamic rooms working

* work on the objectfile, make sure the objectfiles are fully running & multi-functional

* check out the new bot-code, see if we can get muli bots wih this code

* check if the code if able to compile

* test code once a week to see if the code is upto par to everyone’s standard

—————————————————————————————

Admins, please remind me to hold a meeting where everyone has a chance to see the new code!  I’ll be posting snippets of the code once everything has compiled.

Latest bug found & dealt with for Amnuts version 2.3

Posted in Free File, Talkers on August 22, 2008 by nrunner

somehow we find some funny bug that would crash our talker.. but this one was simple bug.. and an easy one to fix at that.. I’ve removed the .pic command, & moved it to the highest level, then on the shell, I removed most of the pictures causing the problems.. we will be editing more and trying to fix this bug as soon as possible!

Portals for both Users & Wizport & java version

Posted in Uncategorized on August 12, 2008 by nrunner

this is just a suggestion.. make a site where there’s some sort of gateway to regular users & wizport.. a java version of the talker would also be good for chatters without the telnet programs, or anyoe using Vista.. Dethtoll, what do you think? let me know peeps!

Back to Version 2.2

Posted in Uncategorized on July 26, 2008 by nrunner

Yes, version 2.3 is being upgraded right now, and this is what we’re planning to code in for that:
* .flogin command – enables a user to fake log-in & log-out without really logging out their SN.
* .csite – enables a user to change his / her site
* useable objects

We’re also currently editing the following:

* .map – adding more rooms to the map, & color is also added
* bot triggers – we’re planning on adding more fun & useable triggers
* socials – adding more socials & editing the current socials we have

Objective for December 2008

* Have the code able to be compiled without errors
* Check & fix all bugs
* Be able to add other snippets to the code

While we are fixing the new code, we may have to use the old code for a while.. (NightRunners Ver. 2.2) at least till the new code is back up & running! so if you do have an account for the now running new code, but don’t have an account for the old, be sure to login & smail me, AGENTx, DethToll, Jfly, or Reens right away!

Amnuts vs. Ramtits

Posted in Uncategorized on July 6, 2008 by nrunner

On June 28th, me & Dethtoll were having a debate on changing the code from Amnuts, to Ramtits.. Dethtoll at the time had a Ramtits version at telnet://tangent.dune.net:3700 as well, so to help as with our problem, I sent this smail to all the users in our chat.

Re: MightRunner Poll on the code change

As you all know, Dethtoll & I are debating wether we should change the
code from Amnuts, to Ramtits? So to help us decide, we would appreciate
it if you left a vote (comment) on the airport board.. yes your
opinion does matter.. so please cast your vote!
Thank you for your time.

We had everyone post their comments on the Airport board:

I do however prepfer amnuts
over ramtits
but the voice will be heard!

From: Kitty [ Friday 27th June 2008 at 02:06pm ]
i like the ramtits but thats my thoughts

From: AGENTx [ Saturday 28th June 2008 at 08:50pm ]
I prefer amnuts too since I’m so used to the code and how it is structured.. I g
uess I prefer a little simplicity

From: JaDe [ Saturday 28th June 2008 at 11:09pm ]
I dont mind either I have worked with both and Amnuts is wonderful and so is
Ramtits but if you want it easy on new users or us old ones it has to be
Amnuts by far.

From: Kitty [ Sunday 29th June 2008 at 04:46pm ]
it doesnt matter to me i like both codes but ramtits (such a dirty name) has alo
t of features i like and so does amnuts

From: Dave [ Sunday 29th June 2008 at 11:22pm ]
amnuts is and always has been good..easy to code, same as neils nuts(dont go there!) and williams take on nuts TalkerOS,(he is working on newest version)go with what you feel comfy with, we shall adapt..we are borg sheep..or something like that ;)

From: Kitty [ Monday 30th June 2008 at 06:55am ]
wait i gotta go there…how do you know neils nuts are good and easy?

From: Kitty [ Monday 30th June 2008 at 08:02am ]
and yes i know bro…i cant be saying stuff like that

Re: Amnuts or Ramtits:

Before I reply, I’ve thought it through.. I like amnuts because of these
reasons:
* I’m so used to chatting in a ‘text / ascii’ environment like this for
years now.. ever since 94?
* This is the code I’m used to editing, and adding on, & yes I do believe
this code can be furthered on.. and even better ..if we keep adding to it!
* & Dave, you are not borg, nor sheep.. we need everyone’s opinion & you made a rather good argument
There are features I like in Ramtits.. I’m just not use to.. how it’s setup..
maybe I am closed minded.. but.. I thought of Ramtits like 5 or 6 years ago
and.. had a chance to try it (Radyo Ng Bayan chat circa 1998 – 2000) but..
it was too confusing for me.. I’ll have to go with Amnuts.

If you have any opinions on which code is better, please post it below on the comment box! or login to: <a href=”telnet://dune.net:4742″>dune.net 4742</a> & read the Airport board!

Coding in the .csite & .flogin command

Posted in Uncategorized on July 6, 2008 by nrunner

this is no easy task.. since what I thought was another case of look at the patterns, see if the puzzle fits in, & compiles.. I started with the .flogin.. and that was a pain in the ass.. in fact now am sorta stuck.. this is where it started:

I checked the amnuts.c on the 2.2.1 version & found this line: ” case FLOGIN : toggle_signoff(user); break; “

So once again, I copied that same line on my amnuts230.c code.. tried to compile it &, yes I get this major error message:

” /home/nrunner/amnuts230rc1/src/amnuts230.c:5650: undefined reference to `toggle_signoff’ “

I won’t furhter adding on the .csite command until I’m succesful in finishing this .flogin command.. next on the project list.. objectfiles! later!
